Chapter 6

Goldie stood before the three brothers, her cheeks flushed but her gaze unwavering. "I cannot choose between you," she declared, smoothing her hands over the curves of her corset dress. "You all enrapture me equally."

The brothers exchanged scandalized looks, Pappa's brow furrowing as Wesley sputtered in disbelief. Tobias shifted, the bulge in his trousers betraying his visceral reaction to Goldie's bold words.

Pappa cleared his throat, his expression torn between shock and a glimmer of understanding. "Goldie, you cannot be serious. This... this is madness. We are brothers, for heaven's sake!"

Goldie held up her hand, silencing him. "I am perfectly serious, Pappa. I have come to care for each of you in ways I never thought possible. To choose one would be to betray the others, and I cannot bear the thought of that."

Wesley ran a hand through his unruly hair, his eyes wide. "But Goldie, this is... this is unheard of. How can you expect us to simply accept such a proposition?"

Tobias remained silent, his gaze locked with Goldie's, the heat between them palpable. She could see the conflict warring within him, the desire battling with the societal norms that had been ingrained in him.

Goldie took a step forward, her hips swaying with a practiced grace. "I know it is unconventional, but my heart cannot be swayed. I love each of you, in your own unique ways. And I believe, deep down, that you feel the same."

Pappa shook his head, his expression pained. "Goldie, you are asking us to forsake everything we hold dear. Our brotherhood, our very way of life. It is too much to ask."

Goldie's eyes shone with a determined light. "I am not asking you to forsake anything, Pappa. I am asking you to embrace something greater, something that transcends the boundaries of convention."

Wesley's brow furrowed, his lips pressed into a thin line. "And what of the consequences, Goldie? What of the scandal, the disgrace that would befall us all?"

Goldie moved closer, her fingers tracing the line of Tobias' jaw. "The consequences are of no consequence to me, Wesley. All that matters is that we are together, that we can explore the depths of our connection without fear or shame."

Tobias inhaled sharply at her touch, his eyes darkening with desire. Goldie felt a thrill of triumph, knowing that she had breached the walls of his resistance.

Pappa watched the exchange, his expression torn. "Goldie, you must understand the gravity of what you are proposing. It is not something that can be taken lightly."

Goldie turned to face him, her eyes pleading. "I do understand, Pappa. But I have never felt more certain of anything in my life. Please, I beg you, let us explore this together, without judgment or fear."

The brothers exchanged a long, silent look, the weight of Goldie's words hanging heavily in the air. Tobias and Wesley seemed to be wrestling with their own desires, their bodies betraying the conflict within.

Pappa sighed, his shoulders sagging with the weight of the decision. "Very well, Goldie. If this is truly what you desire, then we will... we will try."

Goldie's face lit up with a brilliant smile, and she moved to embrace Pappa, her lips seeking his in a passionate kiss. Tobias and Wesley watched, their expressions a mix of trepidation and curiosity, as the two lovers intertwined.

Goldie felt a thrill of triumph as Wesley's eyes followed the sway of her hips, his cravat suddenly too tight around his throat. "Is it any more deviant than the forbidden dalliances we've already shared?" she purred, trailing a fingertip along Tobias' jaw.

Tobias' breath caught in his throat, his eyes darkening with barely restrained desire. "You cannot deny the scorching need that blazes between us," Goldie murmured, her gaze flicking between the three brothers.

Wesley tugged at his collar, his expression torn between outrage and fascination. "You cannot be serious, Miss Locke. A woman taking multiple husbands? It's utterly improper...deviant, even."

Goldie stepped closer to Wesley, her body nearly brushing against his. "And yet, here we stand, caught in the throes of a passion that defies all propriety." Her voice lowered to a sultry whisper. "Do you truly wish to deny what your heart so desperately craves?"

Wesley's resolve wavered, his eyes darting down to Goldie's lush lips. Pappa cleared his throat, his brow furrowed in deep contemplation. "Goldie, you ask a great deal of us. This... arrangement would go against everything we've been taught."

Goldie turned to face Pappa, her expression earnest. "I know, my dear Pappa, but I cannot ignore the connection we share. It transcends the boundaries of convention and societal norms." She reached out to take his calloused hand in hers. "Please, open your heart to the possibility of a love that knows no limits."

Pappa's expression softened, and he gently squeezed Goldie's hand. "You speak with such conviction, my dear. I cannot deny the pull I feel towards you, nor the desire to see my brothers happy." He glanced at Tobias and Wesley, his eyes filled with a mixture of apprehension and understanding.

Tobias stepped forward, his gaze unwavering. "If this is truly what you want, Goldie, then I am willing to... to explore the possibility." His cheeks flushed, but his voice remained steady.

Wesley's eyes widened, and he let out a shaky breath. "I must admit, the thought is... intriguing. But the risks, the scandal – can we truly overcome such obstacles?"

Goldie smiled, her heart swelling with hope. "Together, we can overcome anything, Wesley. Our love is strong enough to weather any storm."

The brothers exchanged a long, silent look, the weight of Goldie's words settling over them. Pappa squeezed her hand once more before releasing it. "Very well, Goldie. If this is your heart's desire, then we shall... we shall try."

Goldie felt a surge of elation, and she moved to embrace Pappa, her lips seeking his in a passionate kiss. Tobias and Wesley watched, their expressions a mix of trepidation and curiosity, as the two lovers intertwined.

Goldie's hands roamed Pappa's broad shoulders, her body molding against his as their kiss deepened. She could feel the heat building between them, the familiar spark of desire igniting her senses.

Pappa's calloused hands slid down her waist, pulling her closer as he reciprocated the kiss with a fervent intensity. Goldie sighed against his lips, her fingers tangling in his graying beard.

The sound of a throat clearing broke the moment, and Goldie reluctantly pulled away, her gaze flicking towards Tobias and Wesley. "My dear brothers, shall we retire to more... private quarters?"

Wesley's eyes widened, and he fidgeted nervously. "I... I suppose we must discuss the, ah, logistics of this arrangement."

Tobias stepped forward, his expression resolute. "Then let us not delay. I, for one, am eager to explore the depths of this... connection we share."

Goldie smiled, her heart racing with anticipation. "Then lead the way, my darling Tobias. The future awaits."

Goldie's breath caught in her throat as Tobias' grip tightened around her wrist, his thumb caressing her pulse point with a searing intensity. The molten heat in his gaze made her heart race, and she found herself leaning in, drawn to the promise of his kiss.

"Insatiable minx," Tobias growled, his voice low and rumbling. "You would have us all, without reservation?"

Goldie's lips curved into a coy smile, her free hand trailing up his chest to rest over the steady thrum of his heart. "I would indeed," she breathed, her eyes half-lidded as she closed the distance between them. "If you can create an invention extraordinary enough to prove your collective worth to me."

The challenge lingered in the air, a spark of defiance and desire igniting between them. Goldie watched as Tobias' expression shifted, a glimmer of determination flaring to life in his smoldering gaze.

"Then we shall put our talents to the test, my dear Goldie," he murmured, his grip on her wrist loosening only to slide his calloused palm down to entwine their fingers. "And when we succeed, you will have no choice but to surrender yourself to us, body and soul."

Goldie felt a shiver of anticipation race down her spine at his words, the intensity of his promise sending a thrill through her. "I look forward to it, my darling Tobias," she purred, her free hand coming up to trace the line of his jaw. "Shall we gather your brothers and begin?"

Tobias' lips quirked into a half-smile, and he tugged her closer, his other hand settling at the small of her back. "Indeed we shall," he rumbled, his gaze flicking down to her lips. "But first, a taste of what is to come."

Without further preamble, he claimed her mouth in a searing kiss, his grip on her tightening as he poured all the smoldering desire into the caress of his lips. Goldie melted into his embrace, her fingers tangling in his hair as she matched his passion, her body molding against his with a perfect, intoxicating fit.

The sound of a throat clearing nearby caused them to reluctantly part, their labored breaths mingling in the charged air. Goldie turned to see Pappa and Wesley watching them, their expressions a mix of curiosity and apprehension.

"I trust you two have come to an... understanding," Pappa rumbled, his brow furrowed as he took in the intimate scene before him.

Goldie smiled, her hand squeezing Tobias' reassuringly. "Indeed, Pappa. Tobias and I were just discussing the terms of our challenge."

Wesley shifted, his gaze flickering between the two of them. "And what, pray tell, is the nature of this challenge?"

Tobias drew Goldie closer, his arm wrapping around her waist possessively. "We must each create an invention extraordinary enough to prove our worth to Goldie," he stated, his voice brooking no argument. "Only then will she surrender herself to us, without reservation."

Pappa's eyes widened slightly, and he exchanged a loaded look with Wesley. "I see," he murmured, stroking his graying beard thoughtfully. "And you believe we are up to such a task?"

Goldie stepped forward, her expression brimming with confidence. "I have no doubt in your abilities, my dear Pappa. Each of you is a master of your craft, and together, I know you can achieve the impossible."

Wesley's brow furrowed, and he crossed his arms over his chest. "This is... highly unorthodox, Goldie. Are you certain you wish to proceed down this path?"

Goldie moved to stand before him, her hand coming up to cup his cheek. "I have never been more certain of anything in my life, Wesley. Our connection is undeniable, and I would see it blossom into something extraordinary."

Wesley's expression softened, and he leaned into her touch, his own hand covering hers. "Then we shall not disappoint you, my dear Goldie," he murmured, a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Pappa cleared his throat, drawing their attention. "Very well. If this is the challenge you have set before us, then we shall rise to meet it." He stepped forward, his gaze sweeping over the three of them. "Let us begin, my brothers. The future awaits."

Goldie felt a surge of triumph and excitement, her heart swelling with the knowledge that her unconventional desires were about to be put to the test. With a radiant smile, she turned to her three suitors, ready to embark on a journey that would test the limits of their love and ingenuity.

Goldie's heart raced as Tobias' calloused hands caressed her curves, his kiss igniting a blaze of desire within her. She leaned into him, savoring the heat of his embrace, until the sound of Pappa clearing his throat broke the moment.

Pappa stroked his whiskered chin contemplatively. "An audacious proposition, to be sure. But the potential rewards could be...profoundly pleasurable."

Goldie felt a thrill of anticipation course through her. "I knew you would understand, Pappa," she purred, her gaze flicking between the three brothers. "Our connection is undeniable, and I long to explore it to the fullest."

"Agreed," Tobias rumbled, capturing Goldie's mouth in a searing kiss. She melted against him with a moan, her fingers tangling in his thick hair as she surrendered to the intensity of his caress.

Wesley cleared his throat, his expression a mix of curiosity and apprehension. "And what of the challenges we must face? Surely such an... arrangement will not be without its complications."

Goldie reluctantly pulled away from Tobias, her lips swollen from his passionate assault. "My dear Wesley, have no fear. Together, we will overcome any obstacle that stands in our way."

Pappa stepped forward, his calloused hand cupping Goldie's cheek. "You speak with such conviction, my dear. But you must understand the gravity of what you are proposing. The scandal, the consequences..."

Goldie turned to face him, her gaze unwavering. "I am well aware of the risks, Pappa. But my heart has spoken, and I will not be swayed." She reached up to cover his hand with her own, her thumb caressing his knuckles. "I trust that you, all of you, will stand by my side, no matter the cost."

Tobias moved to stand behind Goldie, his hands settling on her hips as he pressed a searing kiss to the sensitive skin of her neck. "You have our loyalty, Goldie. We will prove our worth, and together, we will forge a future that defies convention."

Wesley let out a shaky breath, his gaze darting between his brothers and Goldie. "Then let us begin. The sooner we start, the sooner we can... explore the depths of this connection."

Goldie felt a thrill of triumph at his words, and she turned in Tobias' embrace to face the three brothers. "Excellent. Then let us adjourn to a more private setting, where we can discuss the parameters of our challenge."

Pappa cleared his throat, his expression thoughtful. "Very well. I believe the workshop would be the most suitable location. We can begin our brainstorming there."

Goldie nodded, her heart racing with anticipation. "Splendid. Lead the way, my darling Pappa."

The brothers exchanged a loaded look, the weight of their decision palpable in the air. Tobias tightened his grip on Goldie's hips, a possessive glint in his eye, before reluctantly releasing her.

Pappa gestured towards the workshop, his expression resolute. "Then let us begin. Time is of the essence, and we have much to discuss."

Goldie followed the brothers, her mind already whirring with possibilities. As they entered the workshop, the familiar scent of grease and metal filled the air, and she felt a sense of belonging wash over her.

The brothers gathered around a large workbench, their expressions a mix of trepidation and determination. Goldie perched on the edge of the table, her skirts pooling around her as she watched them with keen eyes.

"Alright, my brothers," Pappa began, his voice gruff but tinged with a hint of excitement. "We must devise a plan, a creation that will capture Goldie's heart and prove our worthiness to her."

Tobias leaned forward, his brow furrowed in concentration. "Something grand, something that will leave her breathless with wonder."

Wesley nodded, his gaze thoughtful. "And it must be a collaborative effort, for only together can we hope to succeed."

Goldie felt a surge of pride and affection for these men, her heart swelling with the knowledge that they were willing to put their talents to the test for her sake.

"Gentlemen," she said, her voice soft but commanding. "I have the utmost faith in your abilities. Show me the depths of your ingenuity, and I shall be yours, body and soul."

The brothers exchanged a charged look, the air thick with anticipation. Goldie could see the gears turning in their minds, the wheels of their collective genius already in motion.

As they began to discuss their plans, Goldie leaned back, a coy smile playing on her lips. She knew that whatever they created would be nothing short of extraordinary, for her heart belonged to them all.

Goldie's eyes sparkled with challenge as she unwinned a velvet ribbon from her hair, letting the blonde tresses tumble free. "So we have an accord?" she asked, her voice low and alluring. "Craft for me an invention beyond my wildest dreams. If you succeed..." She pressed the ribbon into Wesley's hand, "I shall bind myself to you all, equally and eternally."

Wesley clutched the ribbon tightly, his jaw clenched with determination. "The bargain is struck," he vowed, his brothers nodding in solemn agreement. "Prepare yourself, Miss Locke, for you shall soon be our wife...in every salacious sense."

Goldie felt a thrill of anticipation course through her. She knew that the three Burnhardt brothers were masters of their craft, and she had no doubt that they would rise to the challenge. The thought of binding herself to them, of surrendering herself completely, sent a delicious shiver down her spine.

"Then let us begin," she said, her gaze sweeping over the trio. "Time is of the essence, and I expect nothing less than perfection from you all."

Pappa, the eldest brother, stepped forward, his calloused hands smoothing over the workbench. "You have our word, Goldie. We will pour our very souls into this creation, and when we are done, you will have no choice but to be ours."

Tobias, the middle brother, let out a low, rumbling chuckle. "Aye, and what a creation it shall be. We will leave you breathless with wonder, my dear."

Wesley, the youngest, met Goldie's gaze, his eyes burning with a fierce determination. "Your heart and body will be ours, Goldie Locke. Mark my words."

Goldie felt a thrill of anticipation course through her. "Then let us waste no more time. Show me the depths of your brilliance, my darling Burnhardts."

The brothers immediately set to work, their hands flying over the various tools and materials scattered about the workshop. Goldie watched, enthralled, as they moved with a practiced synchronicity, their minds seemingly connected in a way that defied explanation.

Pappa barked orders, his deep voice rumbling with authority, while Tobias and Wesley executed his instructions with a seamless precision. Sparks flew as they welded and hammered, the air alive with the cacophony of their efforts.

Goldie perched on the edge of the workbench, her skirts pooling around her as she observed their progress. She could feel the intensity of their focus, the determination that radiated from them in waves. It was a heady, intoxicating experience, and she found herself captivated by their every move.

Time seemed to slip away as they worked, their hands moving with a fluid grace that belied the complexity of their task. Goldie marveled at the way they communicated, their words and gestures effortlessly conveying their shared vision.

Finally, as the sun began to set, the brothers stepped back, their faces flushed with exertion but their eyes alight with triumph.

"It is done," Pappa announced, his voice gruff but tinged with pride.

Goldie felt her breath catch in her throat as she laid eyes on their creation. It was a magnificent contraption, a towering structure of gears and pistons that seemed to hum with a life of its own.

"Behold, the Celestial Ascender!" Wesley declared, his gaze fixed on Goldie's face, searching for her reaction.

Goldie rose from her perch, her steps slow and measured as she approached the device. Her fingers traced the intricate metalwork, her mind whirring with the implications of what she was seeing.

"It's...it's extraordinary," she breathed, her eyes wide with wonder. "I've never seen anything like it."

Tobias stepped forward, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. "And this is but a fraction of what we can accomplish, my dear Goldie. Shall we demonstrate its capabilities?"

Goldie felt a surge of excitement, her heart racing with anticipation. "By all means, my darling Tobias. Show me what wonders this invention holds."

The brothers exchanged a loaded glance, their expressions brimming with a shared triumph. Pappa gestured towards the Celestial Ascender, his voice booming with pride.

"Then let us begin."
